a Very rare Chinese porcelain plate with carp swimming the dragon gate scene. Marked with Buddhist symbol.
In Chinese legendary, the Dragon’s gate is located at the top of a waterfall cascading from a legendary mountain.
The image of a carp jumping over Dragon’s Gate is an old and enduring Chinese cultural symbol for courage, perseverance, and accomplishment.
The Chinese dragon has long been an auspicious symbol of great and benevolent, magical power.

Size: 21 cm diameter
Condition: Very good condition, except some rim frits at backside of the plate which occurs very often in this period.
Age: Later 17th/early 18th C, KangXi period, Qing Dynasty.
